90th Anniversary of Woman Suffrage

Exactly 90 years after the 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote on August 26, 1920, the Madison Chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW), Wisconsin NOW, and the Wisconsin Women's Network (WWN) will be gathering here in the capital of the very first state to ratify it – Wisconsin.

Who?  Emily Reynolds, President of Wisconsin NOW, Eve Galanter, Chair of the WWN Board of Directors, Stephanie Wright, President of Madison NOW, as well as other NOW and WWN officers, special guests, current and prospective members, and supporters of all kinds.  Candidates for public office will be recognized.

When?  5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010.  A brief program will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Where?  The party will take place at a stellar venue of historical significance.  The Woman's Building, where suffrage activities by prominent local women took place, was built by Madison's Woman's Club in 1907.  The building not only has been historically preserved, but is also home to a popular restaurant – Samba Brazilian Grill (The Woman's Building, 240 W. Gilman Street).

Admission is free.  Free appetizers (vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian) and cake will be available.  Donations will be gratefully accepted.  Free child care is also available upon request until August 15, 2010.

Current and prospective members as well as supporters of both organizations are invited to attend this free event.  All are welcome.
